MVP of the Night: Becky Lynch/Shayna Baszler

Worst of the Night: Backstage Interview Segments!

TOP 5

1 – Becky vs. Asuka/Shayna Attack – Obviously as a whole, this was the best part of the show. It started off with two of WWE’s best in the woman’s division vying for the current, in my opinion, top women’s belt. Now, this match may have not ranked as high on this list without the inclusion of the aftermath, but it was still a great way to kick off the action portion of Raw. Series of sloppy near falls kept the end exciting before Becky hit Asuka with a powerbomb roll up for the win. What gave this match the top spot was the brutal Shanya Baszler attack on Becky Lynch after the match. What a great way to kick off this feud for WrestleMania. I love that WWE went for something different here with the blood and biting. Hearing Becky yell “that bitch bit me” made this the top moment of the night before I even watched the remainder of the show. Also props to WWE for having the perfect picture in picture moment, Becky walking to the back. That was a hella long ambulance walk, wasn’t it?

2 – Lashley vs. Ricochet – Good match giving both guys plenty of spotlights. More of this kind of solid action would have made the show better all around, but what is new. Ricochet won with a 630 that looked like it either hit Lashley like a brick or Lashley flexed so hard Ricochet just kind of went….plop! *Insert Batman sound effect bubble*

3 – Humberto/Garza Brawl – Angel Garza vs. Cedric Alexander – This is another instance where we have a decent match that was made much better with a pre-match brawl. This brawl between Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza was quick but intense. I was waiting for the match between Garza and Alexander to be scrapped after the brawl, so good on the booking for still going with the match.

4- Street Profits vs. Rawley & Moss / Moss vs. Rawley – The Street Profits at this point are still an entertaining part of the show, show any match at this point with them in it I expect to at the very least be a comedic break. Their win over Rawley and Moss was swift with a rare team being defeated with one member never being tagged in. The best part of this was Moss taking advantage of Rawley during their downtime to roll him up becoming the new 24/7 Champion and exiting the building in a hurry.

5- The Main Event Eight-Man Tag – This match got the number 5 spot more or less by default with nothing else really being that great on the show. There was nothing wrong with the match, but it just felt like your run of the mill RAW main event with a bunch of guys we have seen week after week. I have officially hit burn out mode on this storyline.

Extra Notes & Random Thoughts :

  • This could be Matt Hardy’s last appearance on WWE TV for this run.
  • Build to Charlotte vs. Ripley is simple and effective, but the segments are fairly lackluster.
  • Zalina Vega should have a stable/faction. She could get advice from Paul E, and where to get one of those sweet phones! The Vega Alliance?
  • How about that “speaking of the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie, up next, RICOCHET!”
  • WrestleMania 37: Hollywood announced. It should be awesome in the new “Los Angeles” stadium. I will also always continue to number my Manias, that’s the kind of old school fan I am.
  • Just think, Ricochet gave that promo in gorilla…woof.
  • I know we have been taught this lesson time and time again, but Randy Orton should always be a heel…always.
  • Not many thoughts about the Randy Orton segment. I get what they are going for, but it didn’t do much for me hitting Matt Hardy with the chair.
  • Current Ruby Riot is cool af.
  • As far as squash matches go, Alistar Black’s are mostly entertaining.
