Chris Brookes w/Kid Lykos def. Gisele Shaw

This was another fantastic intergender match between one of the most underrated technical wrestlers in Chris Brookes, and the fastest rising female in British wrestling Gisele Shaw. This was very competitive back and forth scuffle, the always slick Chris Brookes looked over confident from the get go and carried on as such, with Lykos circling at ringside their hopes for victory were high. Gisele however took it all in her stride and weathered the early storm, she came back into the match and gave as good as she got. Chris was rattled as Gisele took risks to obtain victory, her impressive spinning dive to the outside was a very crowd-pleasing moment, the audience were behind her. Brookes wasn’t down for long, he grabbed his chances and fought back with some stinging strikes, especially stomping on Gisele’s head as he trapped it under the ring apron. The momentum swung back and forth as they exchanged forearms, both were spent but Chris had that little more to secure victory, he countered Gisele and hit a hard-looking Underhook Piledriver for the win.

Kid Lykos retirement announcement

As Chris went to leave the ring Lykos called him back, he then took the microphone in hand and announced his retirement. He spoke briefly about getting into wrestling, the friends he’s made, the travelling, experiences and thanked the fans for their support. It was a truly emotional moment, for someone so young a career has been axed due to injury. Lykos with Chris Brookes were collectively known as CCK, they produced fantastic matches, created memories and will be remembered as one of the best tag team in the United Kingdom. Lykos received a well-deserved standing ovation as his fellow friends/wrestlers surrounded the ring.

Nico Angelo def. Brendan White

The next contest was one of the most one-sided matches I have seen in 2019. The new and improved Brendan White relentlessly beatdown Nico Angelo, he manhandled and controlled the match from the opening bell. I have always been a strong supporter of Brendan; he has all the tools and finally this year it has all come together. Nico is a very talented wrestler, he has great speed, skill and agility but he was outmatched in every department. Brendan just grounded Nico early on and never gave up, aside from the beating he constantly goaded his opponent throughout the match with insults, this was White at his very best. The look, wrestling ability, physique, the aura Brendan now brings is just great to see, he owns the ring when he wrestles. Nico rallied at times but was cut short with power moves and some stinging strikes, the match looked all but over. Unfortunately, this wasn’t too be Brendan’s night, against the odds Nico fought back into the match and floored his opponent, he scaled the turnbuckles and hit a perfect Shooting Star Press for the win.

Attack Pro Tag Team Championship Match

Aussie Open © def. Legion of Rot

The was very much a match of two halves, Legion of Rot took some time to get into their stride as Aussie Open struggled to deal with their plucky opponents. When the match settled the wrestling was very good, all four men produced a very entertaining scrap that ticked all the boxes, Rot were successful in working over the champions for a long period. Hallowicked and Frightmare took control early, their quick tags and varied offence had Davis and Fletcher against the ropes. No matter the amount of offence I don’t think there was a chance Rot were leaving with the titles, once Aussie Open fought back the match really opened up. Both Davis and Fletcher regained their senses and exhibited their skill, the pulse pounding offence, hard strikes and speedy tag team offence. Rot just couldn’t keep up, there were some near falls late on as both teams searched for victory. Legion gave a great account of themselves but Aussie Open were not dropping the titles, the combination of Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher was too much. Aussie Open are terrific, and to beat them you need to be better; Wednesday was not that day for Rot.

Chuck Mambo def. Connor Mills

This was another one-sided affair which resulted in the aggressor losing. This was the most serious version of Mambo I have seen, he worked well with Mills and the two had some great chemistry. Connor Mills looked impressive, he worked on Mambo for extensive periods and came close with multiple near falls. There was a good exchange of moves and momentum as the contest wore on, Connor works very much a junior heavyweight style of wrestling, although due to his size the moves don’t look as devastating. Mambo always the crowd favourite rallied, he has his own unique offence and it’s good to see him move slightly away from the comedic/parody style he has adopted before at Attack. This was a good match but to alike Brenda/Nico which was a superior contest, Mambo captured victory with an impressive Springboard Splash from the top rope.

Dan Moloney def. Jay Joshua

The ever-improving Jay Joshua again stepped up and demonstrated how good he is, and how good he can be. This match for me was very similar to Jay/Thatcher from February, and the recent Bloodsport event over Wrestlemania weekend. Dan Moloney also cannot be forgotten, he and Jay produced a super stiff, shoot style match, the strikes were unforgiving and left a mark. It is this style that really highlights Jay as someone to keep an eye on, he is already one of the best I’ve seen working the independents with his own pure style. Dan was the perfect foil, he also executed some serious looking strikes and took the fight to Jay, they brought out the best in one another. Jay’s kicks were stinging, sitting in the audience you could feel every strike, Dan hit back with chops and a clear boot to the back of his opponent. This was a solid contest, reminiscent of Yugi Nagata, Tomohiro Ishii and Minoru Suzuki, Dan and Jay should be very proud of what they produced. To make a name for yourself with this style you have to back it up, Jay especially does and Dan also showed what he can do with an opponent such as this, excellent contest with Moloney gaining the win via Anklelock submission.

Attack Pro Championship

Chief Dunne © vs Will Ospreay – no contest

I am keeping this short because I cannot justify how good this was, as good as Damian Dunne was, Will Ospreay was better. When I say better, I mean arguably best in the world better, Will returned with an aura only similar to Pete Dunne after he captured the United Kingdom title in 2017. This was professional wrestling at its finest, Will Ospreay was exceptional, everything he did was perfect, the timing, selling, offence, his command of the ring, it was a thing of beauty. This was a terrific match, Chief Dunne rallied when needed and hit back, the flow of moves was fantastic and the exchanges were exceptional. The contest built with Ospreay playing the aggressor and as the match went on Dunne fought from underneath, a great story was told between two exceptional workers. There were some fantastic moments, Will’s German Suplex from outside to inside, Dunne’s counter of OsCutter and Will’s Style Clash were just flawless. Unfortunately, as good as this contest was, there would be no winner. As the match neared its conclusion Dan Moloney attempted to cash in with his briefcase, swiftly followed by the Illuminati faction.

The match then descended into chaos, Dan fled as the Illuminati once again targeted and attacked Chief Dunne. Ospreay then jumped to the defence of the Chief, suddenly a host of other faces ran to the aid of both Dunne and Ospreay. Mambo then issued a challenge to the Illuminati for an 8-man tag match at the Dome.
