Hello everyone and welcome to yet another 205 Live Review. The 5th of March edition saw the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament continue as Oney Lorcan took on Humberto Carrillo and Cedric Alexander battled with Akira Tozawa.

Oney Lorcan vs Humberto Carrillo

In Oney Lorcan’s 205 Live debut, he took on one of the biggest up and comers in 205 Live today in Humberto Carrillo. Back-and-forth throughout, both men find themselves fighting each other on the apron in what seems to be a stalemate until Lorcan lands a knee and follows it up with a beautiful fisherman’s suplex onto the apron. Ouch! Lorcan throws Carrillo back into the ring but only gets a near fall. A pumped up Lorcan tries to hit Carrillo with his signature half-and-half suplex but Carrillo rolls through for another near fall. Lorcan escapes, grabs Carrillo by the face and slaps the hell out of Carrillo’s face… ahhhh! Lorcan whips Carrillo into the ropes who bounces off and floats over as he manages to transition into a pumphandle powerbomb. 1, 2… kickout! Carrillo goes to the top as he looks to hit his signature headstand moonsault but Lorcan gets hit lets up and kicks Carrillo in the face, Lorcan follows it up with a beautiful lariat, turning Carrillo inside out and following it up with a half-and-half suplex for the win (@12:08). This match was top notch and there were some brutal spots, that fisherman’s suplex and those slaps to the face… ouch! Nonetheless, these two put on one hell of a show and I thoroughly enjoyed their match. 8/10.

Mike Kanellis vs Colby Corino (kind of…)

After an altercation with Drake Maverick, a pissed off Kanellis storms to the ring before the match, beats the crap out of Colby, takes his head off with a lariat & just about decapitates him with a rolling cutter. Kanellis looks strong and shows a more serious side of his character.

Akira Tozawa vs Cedric Alexander

Two veterans of the 205 Live scene, Tozawa & Alexander faced off in a hard-hitting, fast-paced match which kept the suspense right until the final bell. With both men down after a reverse rana and spinning back elbow, the two face off in a slug fest with forearms after forearms until Tozawa rushes Alexander and locks in the spider hold. Alexander manages to turn the hold into a pinfall but Tozawa rolls through, locks it in even further and proceeds to deadlift Alexander into a German suplex. Tozawa scales the ropes but Alexander joins him and the two find themselves precariously perched on the top rope. Alexander manages to wipe out the base of Tozawa and finally connect with the lumbar check for the 1, 2, 3 (@18:09). This match was excellent and had me at the edge of my seat for the entire contest. The two went back-and-forth, blow for blow until finally Alexander managed to connect with the lumbar check on what I believe was his fourth attempt. This match was pretty great and I would definitely recommend it for someone wanting to watch some wrestling this week. 8.75/10.

This show was great and sets up our semi-final brackets for next week. Nese vs Gulak and Lorcan vs Alexander. I’m looking forward to next week’s episode for sure.
