Kamikaze Pro Academy Bonus Match – Winner receives future match on a main roster Kamikaze show

DeReiss Def. Hammer Heeley

The evening kicked off with this golden opportunity for one of the Kamikaze pro graduates, I’ve seen both before and they are two very impressive wrestlers. They put together a nice match with DeReiss going over strong, the in-ring action was good, and both got a good amount of offence and made each other looked good. DeReiss due to his entrance, look, character and in ring skill looked the better wrestlers, he has the desired x-factor that many work years to achieve. Hammer Heeley has impressed on the three occasions I have seen him, he’s strong, agile and can take the load during a match, and he has potential. DeReiss shone the brightest, he was super athletic and looks very keen to improve and better his fortunes in Kamikaze Pro and beyond.

Post-match DeReiss chose to challenge Robbie X at a future Kamikaze main roster event.

Kamikaze Pro Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarter Final

Sean Devine & Visage Def. The Elliot Jordan Experience & Nadia Sapphire

Truth or Consequences started proper with the next chapter in the vacant Kamikaze Pro Tag Team Title tournament, with the scheduled Lana Austin unable to attend, Visage took her place alongside Sean Devine. This wasn’t the calibre of previous quarter final matches but it did serve a purpose, Sean & Visage worked well as a team plus the always excellent Elliot Jordan was on top form. The weak link of the match was Nadia Sapphire, her gimmick is very old school and her in ring work left a lot to be desired, there is nothing original about her. Jordan and Sean worked well together, these two are very well-rounded personas with huge potential, Visage also looked the part, and his gimmick was fresh and unique without being cheap or out of date. Overall the match was fun with Devine and Visage coming out as winners, going forward I’d like to see Jordan get a little more serious if he’s too stay a heel or, fully embrace the huge face he is destined to be.

Relentless Championship Match

Sean Kustom © Def. Chris Tyler

Chris Tyler keeps improving, every time you see him he’s improved a little more and it won’t be long before he captures that first singles title in Kamikaze Pro. Sean Kustom meanwhile makes a fine champion, last month he had one of the matches of the night against Gabriel Kidd to end their feud. Here Kustom was challenged by Tyler, this made for a very competitive contest and allowed both to exhibit their skills. Tyler held his own here and looked every inch the champions equal, Chris also has a great following too, he’s a very likeable chap. Kustom hit back with his array of offence, his mixture of technical, high flying and hard-hitting strikes took their toll on Tyler as the contest wore on. Tyler is a mixture of Chad Gable and Daniel Bryan, technically efficient with a high-flying style, he mixed it up well with Kustom as the momentum went back and forth. As good as Chris Tyler was there was never going to be a title change here, Kustom had worked and fought too hard to lose it now, after catching Tyler with some stiff strikes he hit him with his inverted Pumphandle Slam for the win.

No Disqualification Match

Bram Def. Luke Douglas

After current Kamikaze Pro Champion Clint Margera pulled out, his new acquaintance Luke Douglas took his place. The up and coming academy graduate had his work cut out for him, especially as this was his main roster debut. His opponent was the formidable Bram, the ex WWE & TNA star who has made a name for himself on the independent scene, was looking for a fight. To his credit the young Luke Douglas looked more than ready, he took the fight to Bram and never let up. The action was relentless as these two took the fight to each other with baking trays, chairs and thumbtacks, I think Bram was initially taken back by the youngster’s determination, but that soon changed. Bram gathered his brain cells and mounted his comeback, fans fled for cover as the action went ringside, and they battered and beat one another around the Cadbury Club. When the action returned to the ring they were still at loggerheads, Douglas bought a table into the ring and thumbtacks, he set Bram up on the top turnbuckle but unfortunately for Douglas he took too long. Bram low blow’d his opponent and then delivered a sit down powerbomb atop the table for the victory.

Robbie X Def. El Phantasmo

The next match was pure wrestling between Robbie X and El Phantasmo, they wowed the audience with their plethora of moves and earned a great ovation after the contest. This was very good, well any match featuring Robbie X is always very good. They started by feeling each other out, seeing who could get the upper hand, they went back and forth attempting to one up one another. The wrestling was crisp and fluid, both exchanged a number of moves, reversal after reversal followed as they out did each other. Robbie X once again proved here how good he is, why he isn’t booked further afield is beyond me, this man is ultra-talented. El Phantasmo looked good here, his ring style and interaction with the audience really benefits his character, with a few more serious wins under his belt the independent scene is his oyster. Their ring work complimented each other, the match has a great pace, and Robbie X secured victory after a thrilling finale finished with his standing shooting star press.

Dave Mastiff Def. Jack Starz

This match was muchly anticipated from the Kamikaze faithful, Jack Starz is a very talented up and comer, usually seen teaming with Chris Tyler he routinely ventures into singles competition. His opponent was Black Country native Dave Mastiff, who recently has become a Kamikaze regular. Mastiff dominated early on, he was in complete control and threw Starz around the ring like a rag doll, and Mastiff urged the younger competitor to stay down. The dominance continued, Jack looked out of his depth, constant attempts to rally were shot down. What looked to be a one-sided contest slowly altered as Starz kept coming back for more, he fought back and had Mastiff reeling at one point. The audience became more involved as the never say die attitude of Starz raised a reaction, with momentum swinging his way Jack rocked Mastiff with a huge German Suplex. This however would not be enough, Big Dave Mastiff rallied and his sheer power alone, took back the contest, he threw him around some more before hitting the Cannonball in the corner for the victory.

Veda Scott Def. Sadie Gibbs

This was the weakest contest of the evening, Veda Scott although entertaining seems to wrestle as if she’s carrying dead weight on her back. Sadie impressed, her athleticism and ring skill was easy on the eye and the crowd slowly warmed to her. The match was competitive, when Veda does step it up she can look hard hitting and her kicks are impressive, she just always seems to give about 50% in the ring. Overall a slow contest that picked up in the last five minutes.

Kamikaze Pro Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarter Final

The Hunter Brothers Def. Trial By Violence (Saxon Huxley/Gabriel Kidd)

Well what more can I say, this was exceptional. From start to finish, this was a tour de force tag team contest. The always impressive Hunter Brothers did get the victory, however that was after a titanic brawl with Brody & Hansen, oops sorry Saxon Huxley & Gabriel Kidd. Trust me Trial By Violence are one of the best tag teams working on the independent scene, from selling, offence, timing and ring awareness, they’ve got huge potential. The Hunter Brothers took the beating, the pacing of this match was so good, Jim & Lee really understand the tag team game, their selling and timing of the hot tag was exciting to see. When the match went outside the ring the brawl ensued, Huxley and Kidd excelled here, they were in their element as bodies went flying, to their credit the Hunters stood toe to toe with them. The audience were on their feet as the contest spilled out of control, they combatants returned to the ring, a semi-final spot was at stake. Trial By Violence put the Hunter Brothers to the sword, however the wily veterans stayed in the fight, the final few minutes were exhilarating. Huxley and Kidd became frustrated, the Hunters Brothers used this against them, the momentum shifted as Jim & Lee took the advantage and captured a hard-fought win. Both teams received a great ovation.
