Oliver Sudden def. Shay Purser

The evening kicked off with this very entertaining comedy match, both Oliver Sudden and the returning to Dragon Pro Shay Purser played their roles very well. As much as Shay is despised by the audience that young man has skills, from comedy timing to actual ring work, he has all the qualities to go far. He reminds me of a serious Santino Marella, who can raise a laugh yet go when the bell rings. This was a fun match with MC of the evening Eddie Dennis, laying out Shay post-match.

Matt Horgan def. Mark Andrews

This was the most technical wrestling match of the evening and arguably the best, Matt Horgan is a talent that everyone needs to keep their eyes on, and Mark Andrews is a star already. Their styles went together really well, Horgan was the aggressor for a majority of the evening and he made the most of this opportunity. It’s still surreal to think Mark Andrews worked 205Live Tuesday night and was in Newport Sunday night, but hey, that’s the life of a wrestler. This was a solid, technical wrestling contest, when Andrews rallied Horgan quickly took control and won via a Reverse Underhook Driver.

The Merlin Cambridge Invitational – First Round

Jay Jewell def. Sid Oakley & Chuck Mambo

This was another good fast paced match, featuring another quartet of talented guys, who all worked their socks off. Chuck Mambo added the fun & superstar appeal but it was Dragon Pro graduate Jay Jewell who picked up the victory with a beautiful Sitout Powerbomb. Jewell has some great qualities, a really good style, look and comes across as a likeable person. Nice finish with Merlin Cambridge waxing lyrical afterwards to the annoyance of Mambo. Good stuff.

Dragon Pro Tag Team Titles

The 198 (Flash Morgan Webster & Wild Boar) def. © The Brotherhood (Joe Mezinger & Elijah)

The Brotherhood have been riding high over the last year, after defeating some great tag teams it seemed impossible that they would lose. That was until Wild Boar & Morgan Webster knocked on the door, and it was a challenge the Brotherhood were not expecting. This match built so well, both teams wrestled control back and forth with many close falls. The last five minutes were the most exciting of the evening, they traded moves as the match built to a finale. The ending came after a devastating Package Piledriver delivered by Wild Boar to Elijah for the victory to a standing ovation. Both Joe & Elijah haven terrific as a tag team, their teamwork is excellent.

All Wales Title No1 Contenders Match – Beano vs Mike Bird – Draw via countout

One of the most hotly anticipated matches of the evening delivered, featuring one of the best workers in the South West/Wales area and a future wrestling star, this match had it all. Mike Bird gave his respect to Beano before bringing the fight to him, however the man from the NP44 was ready for maybe the toughest match of his career. These two did not hold back, they put everything on the line for a title opportunity and for respect. They traded stiff strikes, big moves and sweat before they could continue no more. Bird suplexed Beano over the top rope to the floor, as both men tumbled over. Neither man could meet the ten count, the audience asked for five more minutes. MC Eddie Dennis added both of them to the next Dragon Pro show and granted them both a title shot.

Celtic Crown Women’s Title – Sierra Loxton def. Kaggy & © Jetta

This was over rather quickly, Kaggy attacked Sierra before the bell rang and then went one on one with Jetta. The audience were perplexed because of Sierra’s disappearance, yet she returned mid match to easily dispatch Jetta and become the new women’s champion. The audience were over the moon with the result.

All Wales Title Match – Danny Jones © def. Bronco Brendan White

Two of Dragon Pro’s best performers finally went toe to toe for the All Wales Title, this was very good. Both Brendan and Danny represent the cream of the crop, both have proven over the last year how good they are, and how good they can become. They traded some hard-hitting moves; the match was at a high tempo throughout as dual chants broke out in the audience. The contest went back and forth, both seemed to have victory in their hands before the other kicked out. Brendan seemed to have the contest in control as he suplexed Danny all around the ring, the champion rallied and hit a Piledriver, but that still wasn’t enough. Brendan looked to come back into the contest, however Danny hit two more Piledrivers, one on the ring apron and the other in the ring to retain the title. This was a great, hard fought match, one that both deserved to win.
