Adam Cole vs Matt Riddle-NXT Championship<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My goodness was this a hot start to the show!\nHonestly, this match would\u2019ve felt right at home on a Takeover card. It even\nhad a street fight feel without the stipulation as these two threw absolutely\neverything at each other. And kudos to Adam Cole for powering through this match\nwith a legitimate broken hand. Oh, and Finn Balor (with a ring on it) is back\nat NXT too?! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: Adam Cole<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grade: A<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Velveteen Dream<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will never get tired of Velveteen Dream\u2019s\ninnuendo-filled promos. They\u2019re on the right side of cheeky where it\u2019s still\ntasteful and entertaining. The way he challenged Roderick Strong was golden; I\nhave a feeling that if used correctly, Dream could be the missile that actually\nbreaks up the Undisputed Era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grade: A-<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Io Shirai vs Mia Yim<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shirai gets bonus points for that new gear she had.\nIt definitely fits this crazy heel character she has going on currently. After\na Takeover match that didn\u2019t quite deliver, I think this was a fantastic\nshowing for Yim. If we can bring this Mia Yim, then I\u2019m all for another title\nshot for her. My only real complaint was that the match felt a little long, but\nit wasn\u2019t long enough to be a detriment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: Io Shirai<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grade: B+<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tegan \u201cRobo-Knees\u201d Knox gets an automatic A because her video package and story were just so good and inspiring.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnny Gargano vs Shane Thorne<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This match felt like a breather, like a little break\nfor the audience. It was very good and very entertaining. Thorne put up a good\nfight and I think he\u2019s starting to pick up some more steam for himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: Johnny Gargano<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grade: B+<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shayna Baszler vs Candice LeRae-NXT Women\u2019s Championship<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nowadays, there\u2019s not always a clearly defined\nbabyface and heel but we definitely have the front-and-center roles with these\nwomen. Baszler is a big bully heel, able to summon her goons when necessary.\nLeRae is the pure babyface with all the heart and spirit. The air got sucked\nout of the room with this match because I think a lot of fans were anticipating\na title change, but it didn\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: Shayna Baszler<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grade: B+<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pete Dunne vs Danny Burch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was quite a physical match, and enjoyable, but\nit didn\u2019t really stand out on the show as much. It was the post-match beatdown\nof Pete Dunne by Damian Priest that actually made this interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: Pete Dunne<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grade: B<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interview, bay bay!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Undisputed Era definitely feel some type of way\nabout Finn Balor returning to NXT. But Cole wants them to worry about keeping\nthemselves dripping in gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyle O\u2019Reilly and Bobby Fish vs Street Profits-NXT Tag Team Championships<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wale doing the Street Profits\u2019 entrance was lit! I\nalways like seeing other celebrities enjoying their time as wrestling fans. The\nmatch itself was a banger too. It was an excellent main event match, with both\nteams delivering. O\u2019Reilly and Fish are one of the best tag teams I\u2019ve seen and\nthe Profits have so much swag and charisma. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: Kyle O\u2019Reilly and Bobby Fish<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grade: A-<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blackheart!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ciampa is back! The way he circled Adam Cole without\never taking his eyes off of Goldie\u2026his return gave me chills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final Thoughts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations to NXT on their official two-hour\ntelevision premiere! All in all, I think this was a great episode and they\nreally knocked it out of the park for the premiere. Also I\u2019m officially getting\non the \u201cDakota Kai beats Shayna Baszler\u201d bus. Buckle up!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
