Well wasn’t this week another interesting one in the world of professional wrestling. We had the fallout from the Kamikaze show the previous Friday, the finale of the BOSJ tournament and the lackluster build up to Supershow Down in Jeddah.

I attended Kamikaze Pro, Relentless Rules 2 and witnessed a fantastic show, featuring the match everyone is still talking about,  Chantal Jordan vs Joey Janela. The match itself exceeded all expectations, especially as it spilled onto the streets of Coventry and has since received mainstream coverage from the Sun and Daily Mail newspapers.

I have been attending Kamikaze for 3 years now, the company keeps progressing with each show. Featuring a plethora of international and homegrown talent, plus the academy graduates the company is on the rise. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to attend one of their shows, you will not be disappointed.

The finale of the New Japan, Best of the Super Juniors tournament finally came to a close on Wednesday. Headlines by group winners Shingo Takagai and Will Ospreay the card promised to deliver, and deliver it did. The undercard although not all important still was entertaining, the opening six man was a great contest. Okada/Romeron vs Scurll/King, Brody was especially promising here and hopefully gets more opportunities in NJPW.

The top three matches again delivered, Jay White defeated Tanahashi and continues to have his number. Jay has really evolved into an excellent worker, everything about this match screamed main eventer. Jon Moxley’s debut went amazingly well, his full on brawl with Juice was thrilling and set the tone with how NJPW want to showcase Moxley going forward. We then moved onto the bosj’s final and the main event, Ospreay vs Takagi. This match was exceptional and arguably is the MOTY so far, both competitors just tore it up and delivered one of the finest junior heavyweight contests of this generation.

On Friday we had another Saudi Arabian super show, featuring past it legends and a collection of meaningless matches the card from all reports was a mess. The least said about this the better.

Today was also  NJPW Dominion day, with Ospreay/Dragon Lee, Naito/Ibushi and Okada/Jericho this is guaranteed to be a worthwhile show.

A reasonably quiet week for myself when it comes to watching Wrestling, time beat me once again as there seemed to be a million things to do, including working long hours! However I did get to watch most of the Best of Super Juniors final, albeit most of the undercard which had some fun multi-man matches. Ospreay winning the tournament was a great result for him in a super match with Shingo Takagi and these could both now transition to Heavyweight and maybe be contenders for a spot in the G1 tournament in July.

Bought tickets for Kamikaze Pro’s 6th Anniversary show on June 23rd at the Coventry Empire! A terrific local promotion that I have followed for the entirety of its existence it is great to see the success that they are having at the moment having seen them from the start bringing some great names to the British Independent scene such as Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne. Now Kamikaze Pro seem to be in a second wave of bringing new, fresh talent to the scene with Chantal Jordan really being pushed and made into a star, so looking forward to what this anniversary show brings.

As a big Podcast listener, that has been the mainstay of my wrestling habit this week. Of course I listened to the Jon Moxley interviews with Chris Jericho and Wade Keller, both interesting listens. My thing with these interviews though, albeit minor: Moxley moans about creative, he has a point, however Moxley goes to New Japan, gets an IWGP US title shot, from nowhere and wins the belt! Enough said?! Jim Cornette’s review of AEW – Double or Nothing is a worthy listen! He really goes in depth, some good, some bad, but well worth your time if you really want to get a proper perspective on the show. Also like to point out a Video podcast that I watched on Friday that was extremely entertaining and that was a BOSJ review and Dominion preview from ‘Smark to death’, who I believe are friends of this very site. A four person podcast show that features Kelsi from ‘Superkickingit’ who is excellent by herself, there is a good debate about Juice Robinson, really enjoyable show.

Did not watch WWE Super Showdown from Saudi Arabia, do not intend to, I have seen the clips from The Goldberg/Undertaker match and it looks like botch city! Appalling!
Just a side note, not wrestling related, but I did undertake a 10K walk for Prostate Cancer today which left me feeling a great sense of achievement. Just wanted to thank anyone who gave me support and good luck wishes, it is appreciated. My late father-in-law, a good man suffered with the illness, and my Wife’s uncle is currently undertaking treatment so hopefully money raised will help him and many others.
