The biggest news for me this week was that I was able to make my podcast debut on ‘Booking Memphis’. What was particularly special about this was that it meant I was in a position to interview Jerry Jarrett, the man behind the territory for so many years. Following on from my ‘Tracking the Territories’ project that finished last year, I was able to talk to him about Memphis in 1984, as well as his thoughts on things such as Hulk Hogan winning the WWF Title, Pro Wrestling USA and Black Saturday. A really excellent experience that you can listen to here: https://bookingmemphis.libsyn.com/episode-43-1984-memphis-and-the-changing-wrestling-landscape

My PROGRESS preview went up at the weekend (http://prowrestlingjournal.com/index.php/2019/04/27/progress-super-strong-style-16-2019-preview/) and I will be on the ground for the website all weekend. I even have tickets to Kaiju Big Battel, though the need to get back and forth between London and Haywards Heath probably means I won’t be able to see all of the show. I think the latest I can stay is 11pm, but even then that might push it. I only did one show last year, so moving to doing all three is quite daunting. I’ll try and lay off the beers or the weekend will be very messy! Coupled with a 25+ mile run that I have scheduled for the Friday, this is going to be a hectic few days.

Behind the scenes at Pro Wrestling Journal, we have been happy with the quality, volume and breadth of recent coverage. As with most things like this, we know we can get better, but the website definitely feels like it is firing at the moment and I predict that things can only continue to get better.

So Andrade went back to Smackdown. Can you guess why?! In all seriousness though, I honestly don’t know why he was moved to start with. Balor making the jump to the Blue brand, along with the Intercontinental Title, opens up a broader spectrum of talent on Tuesday nights, with Andrade being at the top of the list of guys who can actually give Balor some believable competition.

What about the NXT ref who snapped his leg during a match and STILL landed the three count. What a legend! Wishing him a truck load of pain relief for sure.

Rumours are circulating that NXT will have their own ladder match at Money In The Bank in a couple of weeks. What do we think of that and who would you like to see in it?

My viewing this week has been limited to Raw, Smackdown and NXT UK. Today I attended a convention called ‘For The Love of Wrestling’ in Liverpool. Be sure to check out our Instagram page for highlights and keep your eyes peeled for the full review over the next couple of days.
