Jay & Mark Briscoe opened up the show via video interview, and they were not happy that they were told that they had to qualify for the Crockett Cup 2019, and vowed to leave a pile of bodies in their wake, starting with Jeff Cobb & Willie Mack. (Strong words from the former ROH Tag Team Champions)

Ian Riccaboni & Caprice Coleman on commentary.

First thing I noticed was that the crowd level was very low, given the crowd at the G1 Supercard event, this was quite shocking.

First Match

Shane Taylor VS Luchasaurus

If you were looking for a technical match up, this wasn’t it, both men opted to use their striking prowess for most of the match.

This match was very equal in terms both men’s offensive flurries, with Taylor using his opportunities more wisely during the match, hitting Luchasaurus with a Rope Hung Stunner, Pop -Up Chokeslam (that was impressive given that Luchasaurus is close to 300 pounds) and a huge Lariat with Luchasaurus responding with a Shining Lizard (Pardon the pun) and a Chokeslam of his own.

The end of the match came when the ever more impressive Taylor dispatched Luchasaurus with Greeting From 216 ( Fire Thunder Driver) for the 3 count.

Winner Shane Taylor in 5:40.

After The commercial break Tenille Dashwood joined the commentary team and announced that she is finally cleared to compete (personally I was stoked as she has had a rough run since leaving WWE and now could be her chance to shine)

WOH Match

WOH Tag Team Match

Katie Forbes & Mazzerati VS Sumi Sakai & Mayu Iwatani.

This was my first time watching Katie Forbes & Mazzerati and it was quite apparent that they are definitely taking after their trainers ( Mazzerati – Kenny KIng & Katie Forbes RVD) both ladies were very confident through the match and at a few occasions could have put the two former WOH champs away if it wasn’t for their over confidence.

Yet another very equal match with both teams having respective offensive flurries.

In this case ego was Mazzerati’s & Forbes’s downfall after they thought they had Mayu beat she managed to make a tag to Sumi and after a brief melee with all 4 ladies

Sumi delivered Smash Mouth (Inverted Swinging Neckbreaker) to Mazzerati for the victory. A good showing from both teams, and I don’t think we have seen the last of Forbes & Matterazzi.

PJ Black video- PJ revealed that when he first came to ROH that he thought he was better than everyone else , but after his losses to Nick Aldis and especially Bandido, that he had to do some soul-searching, some meditation and really had to think about how he did things going forward.

Main Event Time

NWA World Champion Nick Aldis joins the commentary team.

Crockett Cup Qualifier

NWA National Champion Willie Mack & ROH TV Champion Jeff Cobb VS The Briscoes (Mark & Jay)

At first look, it would have been easy to think that The Briscoes, with their years of experience as team would make it easier for them in this match, that wasn’t the case.

Cobb & Mack had good continuity throughout the match , even giving Mark &Jay a few scares along the way. This was a hard hitting affair with both teams not shying away from anything.

Willie and Mark exchanged Knife Edge Chops for what seemed like forever and the crazy part was, they seemed to enjoy it (rather them than me)

Mark & Jay tried everything to put the ‘Athletic Anomalies’ away including their trademark Springboard Doomsday Device.

Cobb and Mack Nearly got the upset when they delivered a killer sequence of a Stunner, German Suplex & Frog Splash to Mark Briscoe, only for the resulting cover to be lacking in Body on Body pressure.

Mark and Jay neutralized Cobb and advanced into the Crockett Cup following a hellacious Jay Driller to which Mark followed up with FroggyBow for the victory in around the 20 minute mark.

This was a solid Tag Team match worthy of any card let alone a TV show , both team showed their respective qualities, Cobb & Mack – why they are champions in their respective companies and The Briscoes- why they are considered one of the finest teams of this generation.

Next for ROH – the ‘MASTERS OF THE CRAFT EVENT’ – reviewed by yours truly, some good matches on the card, including Villain Enterprises ( Marty Scurll , PCO & Brody King) VS The Kingdom ( ROH Champion Matt Taven , TK O’Ryan & Vinny Marseglia) for the ROH Six Man Tag Team Titles in the main event.

Happy Reading Everyone.

Regards

Danny
