@RoxBlackburn

The Road to Wrestlemania heats up, especially as the card starts to build. We know we’ve got Becky Lynch v Charlotte v Ronda Rousey for the Raw women’s championship. The debate rages on about whether Rousey has gone too far with her recent mic work. What do we think?

Furthering our love of Becky, did you see she stepped in to assist a fan during a signing? The fan was having a medical issue and Becky went to her aid and waited with her until the paramedics arrived. Becky is a class act.

 Randy Orton and AJ Styles cut a good ole promo on Smackdown this week. They’re setting up a great feud which pits the WWE made talent against the indie talent. I’m pretty sure these guys are going to give us gold over the next few weeks.

Finn, oh Finn. He lost the Intercontinental title this last week on Raw. Two current theories surround this. 1. He’s going to beat Lashley for the title at Wrestlemania but it’ll be Demon Finn. 2. A little more far fetched, but are we going to see The Demon v The Deadman? Fingers crossed!

Raw this Monday sees Lashley and Rush take on Balor and his yet to be named opponent. My 7 year old has predicted a return for Sami Zayn. NXT UK saw the underwhelming debut of Kay Lee Ray.

Question for those who follow the UK indie scene, are WWE watering their UK talent down? I enjoyed the reviews our guys have posted this week. Look out for the content growing even more in the coming weeks.

@Iwanmack

Two shows over the weekend for me this week as I went to my local promotion Battle Pro on Friday. A really good show overall with the main event of Jordan Breaks and The OJMO being particularly excellent. It’s free to view on YouTube as well – I highly recommend it.

On Saturday I went to day two of the EVE International Women’s Day weekender, I have reviewed the show in full on this illustrious website but the main takeaways were that Command Bolshoi vs Leon may be one of the best live matches I’ve ever seen and Kay Lee Ray is the new EVE champ as well, we can all rejoice in that news.

@codytweetsstuff

I’m got going to lie but I really didn’t have time watch that much wrestling this week. I did however manage to tune in to both 205 Live and NXT. 205 Live saw the semi-finals of the Cruiserweight Championship tournament commence in brilliant fashion. Oney Lorcan and Cedric Alexander had a hard-hitting affair and Drew Gulak and Tony Nese had their best match together to date. Excellent show and definitely worth tuning in for.

On NXT, the semi finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic commenced with Moustache Mountain battling with The Forgiven Sons and DIY imploding after their match with Aleister Black and Ricochet.

Whilst I didn’t have time to watch much wrestling this week, the little I did watch was definitely worth my time.

@DriftAway93

This week I’ve kept up with RAW, SmackDown, 205 Live, NXT & NXT UK as I do every week. But this week I found myself watching some wXw stuff, some old ‘Big Daddy’ WALTER matches and catching up on a favourite of mine and recent NXT UK signee, Ilja Dragunov.. who is just sublime. I cannot wait to see him and Pete Dunne lock up! That would be a modern day dream match of mine for sure!

What turned me to wXw was the video that came out this week of the surprising and goosebumps inducing appearance of SAnitY’s own Alexander Wolfe at 16 Carat Gold 2019 to accept the open challenge from current wXw Shotgun Champion, Marius Al-Ani! I didn’t get to see the match, which was annoying, so I went looking and lost myself in a labyrinth of outstanding German wrestling! Alexander Wolfe (or Axel Tischer as he was known then) vs WALTER at 16 Carat Gold 2014 is excellent and the whole 17 minute match is on YouTube if you want to see it! Here’s the link – https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IdCrrF3nw9c … – Further driving home just how big a waste of fantastic talent SAnitY are at the moment; Because the whole stable are main event level players!

So.. I’d thoroughly recommend checking out wXw! It blew my mind this week. The energy of their crowds is so crazy that you can’t help but get pumped up watching it!

A lot of My Week in Wrestling has been write large across the site as I spent most of my week catching up with wXw 16 Carat Gold. The Bobby Gunns’ title win was a great feel good moment on the Saturday, whilst it was nice to see the promotion take a chance with Lucky Kid. I wasn’t expecting him to win when he was up against WALTER in the final, or at least expected some shenanigans, so it felt huge when he managed to make the big man tap. All in all, a good selection of shows that perhaps played more to the regular wXw fan than a casual fan who fancied dropping in to check it out.

My most notable other wrestling action has been to start checking out some NWA/WCW PPVs. I was always a WWF fan first and foremost when I was younger, but having listened to some of the Lapsed Fan podcasts on the various Starrcades, I felt it would be a good time to go back and have a look at the well recommended shows from that time period. The first one I have been watching is Chi-Town Rumble 1989 and a fifteen minute opening match between Michael Hayes and Russian Assassin #2 didn’t exactly float my boat, but I’m sure there is a lot more of interest to come. Should be some fairly guilt free wrestling watching as it is the only stuff I’m checking out at the moment that I don’t feel like turning into a piece of writing!

Three weeks until Wrestlemania and there should be some good pieces hitting the site around that time. I’ve also invested in the Fite Collection on fite.tv so shall be trying to catch as much of the action as I can. I enjoyed watching all the stuff last year, so hopefully I’ll get the same enjoyment out of it this year.
