Back in 2002 TNA Wrestling was born under the NWA banner and started off strong with names like Scott Hall, Jeff Jarrett and Ken Shamrock appearing on the very first show in Nashville, Tennessee. They introduced us to star of the future, from AJ Styles to Low KI and Prince Justice who went on to be known as Abyss. A lot has happened since that Day and here is how I think the New regime of IMPACT wrestling have come along. As of July 2nd, 2017 TNA, was no more but IMPACT Wrestling rose out of the burning rubble. Anthem sports entertainment knew they had a long road ahead if they wanted to get back to the TNA heyday. But they had faith and kept going when a lot of people where saying to just leave it alone, TNA left a lot of people with a bitter taste in their mouths, but they kept pushing. They had bought Jeff Jarrett back on board along with Scott D’amore and Don Callis, all three of whom had a key part during TNA’s height of success.
The Company was is known as IMPACT, but before they could truly break Out, they were called GFW IMPACT which was clearly a move from Jarrett trying to get his own promotion some success. They very nearly had it but then for some possible creative differences Anthem and JJ parted ways which was traction for Jarrett to file a lawsuit against the company which all but failed. It took another 2 years, but everything remotely related to Global force wrestling had gone. Talent had come and gone but it didn’t worry the promotion because they knew they had high quality pro wrestling on their side. It’s clear their focus is to build bridges with the fans and talent that had dealt with Dixie Carter, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, there have even been miniscule repairs to their relationship with NJPW. They even have some form of an agreement with WWE, that’s something many thoughts would never happen but here we are at the point where they have used IMPACT library footage on many of their specials with AJ Styles and Nigel McGuiness. The possibilities are surely endless for the promotion with Ed Nordholm at the wheel, that is a real compliment considering 3 years ago they thought they where going out of business with quite a lot of Assets being sold and talent threatening lawsuits for late payments. A lot of negativity and sourness towards them has now for the most part turned to praise, there are still some who aren’t happy, but I feel if they watch all can be forgiven.
Week in and week out they put on quality tv shows and PPV’s with SLAMMIVERSARY XVI being sighted as one of the best PPV’s of 2018. That is certainly a huge Improvement considering the Victory Road 11 issue. Many people said they wouldn’t recover from that, but they did, now we’re on the road to SLAMMIVERSARY XVII which is shaping up to be show of the year featuring an Intergender dream match with Sami Callihan facing off against Tessa Blanchard. Tessa is reportedly being talked about having a run as the world champion which would be huge for wrestling. Yes, IMPACT have faced some issue, what wrestling company hasn’t? to see where they have come from with some huge ups and very low downs over this 17-year journey but I’m very proud to be an IMPACT Wrestling fan. I’m proud to be a wrestling fan with all these great companies out there they’re just trying to provide an excellent alternative and they are more than delivering.
