Robbie X def. Chuck Mambo

The afternoon of wrestling kicked off with two fan favourites, Robbie X is unarguably one of the finest professional wrestlers in the United Kingdom and Chuck Mambo is one of the most beloved. This was a very competitive match, mixing two very different styles, both Robbie and Mambo had their moments but overall it was a very 50/50 match. Robbie X doesn’t have a bad match, everything he does is with panache and has the audience applauding. Mambo adjusted well with his scrappy underdog/hybrid style of wrestling, he rallied against Robbie and looked close to victory after a great sequence of moves. Unfortunately for Mambo, Robbie weathered the storm and hit back with this Springboard Cutter for the victory.

The Kabal (Asamodeus/Azaroth) def. The Brother of Obstruction (Jim/Lee Hunter)

The satanic Kabal were dominant here, they controlled much of the contest and did their best at dividing the ring. The Hunters were against it from the get go, the Kabal used every advantage they could. For a long period, they worked over Jim and kept him in their corner, when Lee finally got the tag the audience erupted. Unfortunately, the Hunters could not turn the tide in their favour, they rallied but the numbers game and the ref getting distracted let them down. The Kabal made a statement here as they made examples of the Hunters, a few high impact Crucifix Powerbombs rendered them immobile as the win went to the hooded sheep of hell

Cara Noir def. Nico Angelo

This was a high impact, hard hitting fight, the first meeting of these two left fans wanting more. Cara started the more aggressive of the two, he has a ferocious mean streak that you can’t help but love. Nico Angelo another of the Dragon Pro academy graduates has a very bright future, once again he was exceptional here and struck back at Noir throughout the contest. The first half was very up and down as the match didn’t settle, once Noir got stuck into Nico the match sold itself, Cara was brutal at times and really laid into Nico. The audience were split between these two, Nico forced his way back into the match and played the underdog role very well. The match spilt to the outside where both took some damage, the ref checked on both before returning to the ring. Nico seemed to have shifted the momentum and was on   a roll, however as he came off the top turnbuckle Cara shifted his body and caught Nico with his knees. He then shifted Nico and locked in his modified Sleeper Hold for the win.

Gisele Shaw def. Kyle Fletcher

Arguably and purely in my opinion, this was the match of the night.  Gisele in 2019 has become one of the fastest rising female wrestlers on the independent scene, and for Kyle. Well he is quickly turning into one of the best junior heavyweight wrestlers. This match was excellent, from start to finish this ticked all the boxes and was a perfect wrestling match. Kyle literally kicked off the match by trying to kick Gisele’s head clean off her shoulders, it set the tone of the rest of the contest. We saw the darker side of Kyle here, as the contest went on he gave Gisele little or no respect, he stopped her at every opportunity and controlled the contest. The audience really rallied behind Gisele, the atmosphere grew as she fought back against Kyle, it seems he realised he took Gisele too lightly and he paid for it. The strikes were hard, the exchanges were crisp, and the sequences were flawless, this pulled the audience in and never let go. Everyone was pulling for Gisele as she countered Kyle, the finish came as Gisele hit Kyle with the Spanish Fly off the ropes, then she ascended the turnbuckles and hit a Corkscrew Splash for the big, hard fought win.

Dani Luna def. Akira, Rufio, LK Mezinger, Brendan White and Man Like Dereiss

This was a full-on scramble featuring the best young talent on the independent wrestling scene, all had their moments and took full advantage of their opportunity to shine. It was great to see Dereiss back down south competing, he has bags of talent and looks set to have a breakout year. Akira was making his Attack Pro debut, in doing so he nearly stole the show. What he did, he did well, and he had the audience in applause, his walk from the top turnbuckle, then over two competitors were just awesome. Rufio making his second appearance in as many days was a fan favourite, he too looked good and had some good exchanges. Brendan was a dominant as ever, he more than anyone in this match has had a phenomenal 2019 so far, the loss wouldn’t bother him, he was just there to hurt people. LK looked the best he has in a long time, he has a great character and potential, but I think his future lies in tag team wrestling. Dani Luna. the current most talked about female wrestler in the South West/Wales wrestling scene was again fantastic here. She held her own and again looked very good, so much so the audience gave her a great reaction both before and after. Nice to see her get the victory to add to an already successful year.

Attack Pro Wrestling Championship

Chief Dunne © def. M Shay Ultra

After the shenanigans in Cardiff, Chief Dunne handed Shay a title shot for Bristol. This was closer than I thought it would be and I did at one point envisage Shay potentially winning. The pesky Kabal mouse caused disruption at ringside and Shay did his best to distract the ref, Dunne took some punishment but was ultimately victorious. The match built well, the audience were well and truly in favour of Chief Dunne, Shay got a barrage of abuse from just about everyone. Due to interference at ringside Dunne was often on the backfoot, which on a few occasions nearly cost him with some very close falls. As the contest went on I did think we would see another run in of sorts to protect Shay/The Kabal, however Chief rallied and defeated Shay Clean 1,2,3, to retain the title.
