Welcome back to yet another review, this time we will be covering the 16th of April edition which features a fatal four way matchup between Gran Metalik, Ariya Daivari, Mike Kanellis & Akira Tozawa as well as Cedric Alexander’s farewell match as he takes on 205 Live newcomer, Oney Lorcan. Let’s get right into the review.
Gran Metalik vs Ariya Daivari vs Mike Kanellis vs Akira Tozawa
In our opener, we get a rare fatal four way match which I’m super hyped for. The agile, high flying and ultra impressive Gran Metalik takes on the hard hitting and immensely talented Ariya Daivari, the resurging all rounder Mike Kanellis and the jab & suplex master, Akira Tozawa. A match featuring four of the best on 205 Live, this kind of came out of the blue but I’m happy it happened as multi-man 205 Live matches are always brilliant. Getting into the match, Kanellis & Tozawa find themselves in the ring exchanging brutal chops and jabs before Tozawa gains the advantage with a vicious snap German. Tozawa scales the top rope before Maria Kanellis distracts him, allowing Mike to connect with a chop. Both men find themselves on the top rope before Tozawa shoves down Kanellis and goes for the senton, only to be caught with knees to the back. Kanellis follows it up with the rolling cutter which is broken up by a springboard elbow drop by Metalik, breaking up the pinfall attempt and connecting to the chest of Tozawa. Kanellis throws Metalik outside the ring but the opportunistic Daivari rolls back in the ring, tosses out Kanellis and pins Tozawa for the 1, 2, 3 (@11:11). This was absolutely fabulous and a wonderful finish. I have nothing but praise for this, the action throughout was absolutely excellent and nobody loses momentum but Daivari definitely gains a ton. There were some brilliant points of action throughout this match and Daivari coming out with the win in a ‘cheap’ way was great, it really adds to his character of being an evil heel. I’d love to see Daivari in the main event picture soon, a match between him and Tony Nese would be sure to impress.
Cedric Alexander vs Oney Lorcan
In the culmination of a feud which has been brewing for the last few weeks, Cedric Alexander gets a worthy opponent for his final 205 Live match in Oney Lorcan who has already proven a point in 205 Live so far as well as putting on some brilliant tag team matches in NXT with his former tag partner, Danny Burch (a man who I believe is really underrated, love his brawling and hard-hitting style). With Alexander being called up to RAW, I’m very excited to see what he can do on a more regular basis but I’m also sad to see him leave as he has been one of the most solid and reliable cruiserweights for a while now as well as a formidable champion. Now that my analysis is over, let’s get into this match and give the scoop of this week’s main event. Both men find themselves on the apron, head to head, toe to toe where they slap and chop the manhood out of each other, ah…. ah! Somehow, Lorcan manages to get a hold of Alexander where he delivers a disgustingly brutal half-and-half suplex on to the apron. Lorcan rolls Alexander back into the ring before decapitating Alexander with possibly the single scariest lariat in this year of 205 Live (and that’s saying something because Buddy Murphy has delivered some mean lariats over the year). Lorcan grabs Alexander and connects with yet another half-and-half suplex. 1, 2, 3 (@18:22). This match was the perfect send off for Alexander and Lorcan looks like an absolute machine after defeating Alexander and causing the end of the reign of Alexander. Lorcan had to legitimately beat the life out of Alexander to pick up the victory here and Alexander looks really, really good as he heads into RAW. Thank you Cedric.
