In the 26th of March edition of 205 Live, we see The Lucha House Party (Kalisto, Metalik & Dorado) face off with Drew Gulak, ‘Gentleman’ Jack Gallagher & Humberto Carrillo and the clash between Ariya Daivari & Cedric Alexander. Without further ado, let’s get right into the review.

Lucha House Party vs Drew Gulak, ‘Gentleman’ Jack Gallagher & Humberto Carrillo

In the opening match of the night, the underlying story of this match was Gulak & Gallagher wanting to mentor Carrillo to follow a less high risk style. After a running roundhouse by Kalisto, all participants of the match are down and out in the ring. The legal men of Kalisto & Carrillo face off and as Kalisto charges at a cornered Carrillo, Carrillo gets his feet up and knocks down Kalisto. Gulak warns Carrillo about not going to the top rope but whilst the two are distracted, Kalisto takes the opportunity to knock Gulak off the apron into Gallagher and turn the kick into a salida del sol. 1, 2, 3 (@13:10). This match had some good storytelling going on and I really enjoyed the match itself. All of the men involved put on a solid match and the ending was great from a storytelling and wrestling perspective. Bravo.

Now, I don’t usually mention backstage segments on 205 Live because they’re usually a bunch of useless jargon but we actually got some pretty darn good segments this time round. First up, Mike Kanellis with Maria Kanellis will have another match against Akira Tozawa with Brian Kendrick by his side. The last match between these two was pretty good so I’m looking forward to it. Next, ‘The Juggernaut’, the Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy cut a pretty good promo at the performance centre hyping himself up and how he’s the best cruiserweight in the whole world. Just when I thought this pretty entertaining segment was up, Tony Nese barged into Buddy Murphy and attacked him, proclaiming that he is ready to fight him at Mania. Boy am I hyped for that match, a great story and two excellent athletes. Awesome stuff.

Ariya Daivari vs Cedric Alexander

In the main event, one of my personal favourites, Ariya Daivari fought the former Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander. Also, I forgot to mention that Oney Lorcan was sitting ringside (this will become more important later). With Alexander down, Daivari scales the ropes and nails an Arabian Frog Splash, wonderful stuff. 1, 2.. no! Daivari pulls Alexander back up and grabs his wrist in an attempt to connect with his signature hammerlock lariat but Alexander ducks and connects with a floatover crucifix bomb and he hangs onto the pin for a near fall. Daivari ends up outside the ring and Alexander launches himself over the top rope for a beautiful tope con giro. Alexander and Lorcan face off and Alexander accidentally knocks Lorcan’s jacket off the announcer’s table, pissing Lorcan off. With Alexander and Daivari back in the ring, Alexander remains distracted by Lorcan, Daivari takes advantage and rolls up Alexander with a schoolgirl pin. 1, 2, 3 (@12:45). Daivari picks up an opportunistic victory but though the match might not be over, Lorcan is still pissed. Lorcan comes into the ring and starts beating up Lorcan, outside the ring, Alexander spears down Lorcan but with security breaking the two men up, Lorcan takes advantage and hits a sucker punch on Alexander as he leaves, happy with his work. This was great storytelling. Daivari manages to pickup a huge win yet Alexander stays strong and he manages to start a new feud with Oney Lorcan. Absolutely wonderful stuff. I loved this. Whilst not the longest of matches, the wrestling was incredibly solid and I thoroughly enjoyed it throughout.
