Hello everyone and welcome to yet another 205 Live review. The 12th of March edition of 205 Live featured the semi-finals of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament where Tony Nese took on Drew Gulak and Oney Lorcan battled with Cedric Alexander. With that out of the way, let’s get right into the action!
Oney Lorcan vs Cedric Alexander
In our first semi final match of the night, we saw the hard-hitting, ultra dangerous Oney Lorcan take on former Cruiserweight Champion, the high-flying Cedric Alexander. In a great matchup where both men tried to outdo each other both technically and in the air, these two went back-and-forth the whole match long and had some absolutely brutal spots, some incredible near falls and a crowd which actually got super engaged in the match. After both men had numerous near falls, numerous pin fall attempts and some cringe inducing spots, we find Lorcan on top. An angry Lorcan proceeds to slap the life out of Alexander. Lorcan tries to build some momentum but Alexander pulls him back by the trunks and just about breaks Lorcan’s back with an incredibly stiff Lumbar Check. OUCH! Alexander crawls into the pin for a 1, 2, 3 (@15:15). There were so many incredible moments throughout this match that I just need to highlight some of the best ones. Alexander hits a beautiful Neuraliser and follows it up with a disgustingly good looking slingshot reverse STO. Lorcan manages to connect with his signature half-and-half suplex, turning Alexander inside out. Later on in the match, Alexander nails Lorcan with a STO takedown the apron before proceeding to nail him with a Michinoku Driver. Both men then proceed to fight on the top rope before Lorcan hits a half-and-half suplex from the top which somehow didn’t win him the match… wow. There’s far too many moments in this match. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend watching this match, in fact as you will come to see later, this whole show was superb. This was magnificent. 8.75/10.
Tony Nese vs Drew Gulak
Yes… these two have teamed with each other on numerous occasions. Yes, these two have faced each other on quite a few occasions. And yes… this match was simply brilliant. These two had a brilliant grappling and striking contest. I absolutely loved this. If you’re looking for a super fast-paced, spot fest, this is not what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for an amazing contest with two men fighting for the victory with some brilliant mat-based wrestling, some brilliant high-flying and some excellent power, this is what you’re looking for. These two put each other through hell in this match and legitimately had me at the edge of my seat the entire contest. I had no clue who was going to win, truly superb. With Nese just about out of the match, Gulak locks the Gu-lock in tight but Nese with the final urge left in his body manages to turn his body weight on top of Gulak to pick up the 1, 2, 3 (@17:20). There were some great moments in this match but this match was so fluent, so brilliant throughout that you really have to watch the full match to understand the beauty of it. 9.5/10.
I absolutely loved this show. Wow, wow, wow.
