Cara Noir def. Eddie Dennis
To see the best of Eddie Dennis, you have to witness him live in person at an Attack Pro Wrestling Show, ever since he returned from injury and turned heel the man has been terrific. With Nothing To Prove now in the history books, Eddie looked set to kick off the new year with an win, his opponent was the oh so eccentric Cara Noir, who along with his entrance makes for a grand viewing. This was a truly solid contest and exhibited both competitors’ strengths, Eddie once again managed to steal the spotlight, his running commentary and interactions with the audience were gold. Cara Noir however would not be shushed, and he really displayed a great range of moves and character traits throughout the match. As dominant as Eddie was during the bout, Noir responded with similar aggression and quickness, he had Eddie reeling. Eddie rallied towards the end and delivered a Last Ride Powerbomb and Next Stop Driver, but to everyone’s surprise Noir kicked out! Dennis was in shock and Cara hit back and scored victory with a brutal Sit-Down Piledriver.
Experiment In Terror (LK Mezinger & Elijah) def. Sid Oakley & Clay McLeod
The first tag team match of the evening was a squash and a simple and easy way of reintroducing character as a dominant force, an example for all promotions. The team of Elijah and LK were beautifully savage and made quick work of their unprepared and ill-equipped opponents. A Combination of power moves secured victory and once again established LK and Elijah as talented threats.
Millie McKenzie, Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis def. Jim and Lee Obstruction & Veda Scott
With Chief Deputy Dunne unable to attend, Veda Scott stepped in and teamed with two members of the AFP. Their opponents were the dynamic threesome of Mille, Kyle and Davis, who as always were treated as the stars of the show by the audience and produce a great match. Aussie Open and Millie McKenzie are so good that they don’t even need to do much in matches any more to get over, the acts themselves are over and their appearances alone, make the match worth watching, the fact that they are extremely talented is an added bonus. Jim and Lee (Hunter) with Veda Scott were equally entertaining, the Hunters are one of the best tag teams in the country and even Veda put a shift in here. The match was a fun, fast and decent offering from both teams, the action was solid and hard hitting and the match delivered what it intended. This was never going to reach the heights of previous bouts featuring these talents in their respective singles and tag matches, but overall it ticked all the boxes and the audience loved it.
Attack Pro Wrestling Championship, No1 Contender’s Match
Chris Brookes def. Dan Moloney, Wild Boar, Mike Bird & Shay Fu
With Lykos returning to the role of GM he decided to make a No1 contenders match, his friend Chris Brookes was of course included, however Chris was dismayed when Lykos introduce his FOUR opponents. This was a fun filled, hard hitting war, Shay offered the comedy element of the match and the heavy hitting came from Bird, Boar and DAN! This was a wild match with everyone getting their big spots in, Brookes who again as I mentioned in my Kamikaze review last week is in my opinion one of the best wrestlers in the UK took his time in this match and chose when to get involved. There were some great sequences featuring Shay and all the competitors collectively, which only raised the excitement level of the audience, Mike Bird was also great here, he makes for a great crazy guy character. Dan and Boar delivered the brutality, it’s been great to see Dan Moloney back at Attack, and I love to see more of him in the South West. In the end Chris Brookes took advantage of a situation and took the win and became the No1 Contender.
Timothy Thatcher def. Jay Joshua
This was special, if you like solid, shoot style wrestling then this was for you. Timothy Thatcher was obviously sculpted from granite, the man is a machine and at Attack he was vicious, brutal and glorious. To his credit Jay Joshua earned great respect from the audience, as outmatched as he was, he gave a good showing of himself and proved that when the time is right a rematch is on the cards. Thatcher was relentless, he tells a story and beats you with the book at the same time, and he cut Jay down and took his time in punishing and toying with his opponent. Jay took his opportunities and displayed a nice range of offence, this was a war from start to finish. The audience gave the match the respect it deserved, at times the quiet atmosphere added to the tension of the bout, similar to a NJPW match. Thatcher was determined here, he was never going to lose and made double sure after Jay rallied to put him away, the finish came after Thatcher tied up JJ for a submission victory. Riveting stuff.
Attack Pro 24/7 Championship
Robbie X © def. ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey
I can’t give this match the praise it deserves through words, Robbie X and Mike Bailey produced a flawless display of wrestling, quite simply this was wrestling art. This was the main event for a reason, the wrestlers exhibited exactly why they are two of the best working the independents. The chain wrestling was fantastic, Robbie’s junior heavyweight style is one of the best and Speedball’s strong style offence is enough to make your eyes water. This was the quintessential example of why wrestling is the best sport in the world (arguably) Speedball secured victory with his dazzling Ultima Weapon.

Cara Noir def. ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey ©
After a frantic back and forth Speedball finally retrieved the title, but to end the evening Cara Noir caused a distraction before taking the title after hitting a Package Piledriver.
