Cezar Bononi & Adrian Jaoude vs Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
Nice match. Fairly short, but Oney and Danny came out on top after their Tag Finisher. Which delighted me somewhat hugely after seeing it, imagine a Magic Killer position but instead of a Neckbreaker, it’s a straight drop into a DDT! Brutal!
Promo
Some unfamiliar music hit, awesome track too, it was Ciampa! He has new music and it is an absolute diamond! Immediately one of the best they’ve got! On top of that, this promo was fantastic! Ciampa is the bloody future of the company at this level! He came out to say he is sick of being accused of attacking Aleister Black because it’s based on nothing. He said when he attacks someone he does it with an audience so we can all “worship our Master”, which I thought was an awesomely Heelish thing to refer to himself as. Just a fantastic promo really.
Violet Payne vs Shayna Baszler
My favourite NXT Superstar, Shayna Baszler made short, sadistic and vicious work of the newcomer and after submitting her, she came back and locked her in again! I love this brute force in the Women’s Division. She let go, then locked it back in. Kairi Sane was nowhere to be seen but Baszler left after this though. Captain Kairi isn’t a hero after all, that’s probably smart.
Undisputed Era Promo thing
Talked about their opponents from past weeks, just talking trash really.
Lars Sullivan vs Raul Mendoza.
Lars is a scary, scary man. Even his Amish style beard should look stupid, but it just adds to the intimidation factor. Mendoza had some decent shots, but Sullivan just mauled and threw him around. Mendoza fought back hard and fast and even looked like he was about to get the upset! But Lars has stepped his monster game up and just smashes him with a Pop-Up Powerslam and a Freak Accident for the win. Man, I hope he faces Strowman when he’s called up!
Backstage
Ricochet talks about beating Pete Dunne next week and become the “one and only” dual champion of NXT. Which will not happen because it’ll end in a no-contest. It has to.
Forgotten Sons video package
Pretty cool. – not much else to say about it. Gunner, Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler make for a cool stable though. Nice to see Blake back too.
Aleister Black Attack inquisition
Kassius Ohno wanted to talk to Regal about the attack, Regal said he didn’t need to talk to him. Kassius then lost it a little and said he’s seen everyone leap frog him and he’s had enough. He said when Regal’s ‘shiny new toy’ gets here, let him know and he will take care of him, “Bro”.
Bianca Belair vs Nikki Cross
This match had some comedic factors at the beginning, then it turned really physical. Bianca Bel air executed a Military Press Drop on Cross! That was mesmerising! Belair is deceptively strong. Also, she’s undefeated thus far and the match ended in a double count out so the streak still lives. The two women brawled after the match too! Neither let up and continued to get past the Refs and attack eachother. Nikki hit a Crossbody off of the announce desk and that called an end to the brawl.
I loved this match. It was crazy and had some real legs to go somewhere awesome. Not sure I liked Nikki Cross’s ‘crazy’ character this week though. It seemed a little less psychopath and a little more childish. But I still enjoyed the whole thing for what it was.
Conclusion
9/10 🌟
Great episodes of NXT are almost a guarantee these days. You know that there will be something in the 56 minutes that will entertain you. This week was no different and it delivered a heavy dose of satisfaction in terms of storyline development and high quality performances.
Match of the Night: Lars Sullivan vs Raul Mendoza. I liked this style of match. Raul got the support being the underdog and Lars was this domineering force of unstoppable destruction. Lars looked meaner than ever before and I think he’s going straight for the North American Championship.
Performer of the Night: Shayna Baszler. I loved what she did with Violet Payne this week. Shayna looks mad that she hasn’t got her title match. But it looks like it could very well be building to Kairi Sane vs Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Title at the WWE Evolution PPV. I cannot wait to see more of this feud.
That was that. Thanks for checking my review out, I really do appreciate everyone who reads my stuff. As always, please feel free to comment, like and share and make sure to Too Sweet that follow button on the Twitter machine @KayfabeToday. Peace and love to one and all! ✌🏻💚
