Once again the Cadbury Club, Bourneville is the setting for another Kamikaze Pro show that has a packed crowd looking forward to a Sunday afternoon’s wrestling.
RELENTLESS DIVISION TITLE
SEAN KUSTOM(c) defeats MAN LIKE DEREISS
The opener saw the main roster debut of Dereiss after an impressive year to date wrestling on the Kamikaze Pro Live shows. His reward is a shot at Kamikaze’s secondary title against current champion Kustom who has made the title his own after taking it away from Gabriel Kidd earlier on in the year. Dereiss cries a future star, his ring entrance alone is mesmerising and immediately has my attention and along with his athleticism will no doubt become a major player in the Kamikaze Pro promotion. Kustom is now a well established member of the Kamikaze roster and looked proficient throughout has he took to working the neck of Dereiss. Dereiss’s attempt to counter and maintain his own offence looked sharp and was more than a match for the champion, however, Kustom always seemed to have the edge, and would revert to working the neck of his opponent whenever he found an avenue. Dereiss did everything he could to avoid the Australian’s finisher, rolling up Kustom for a near fall when he attempted to hit the ‘Kustomizer’! Maybe frustratingly Kustom threw his sleeve band at his opponent to find that distraction to finally put Dereiss away with his patterned finish and another successful title defence. Excellent opener with Man Like Dereiss starting his main roster run as expected.
FOUR WAY MATCH
ELLIOTT JORDAN defeats LUKE DOUGLAS, JACK STARZ & CHRIS TYLER
This was frantic from start to finish with former ‘Star Talent’ members Jack and Chris working their backsides off throughout the match which was simply excellent. Pro live champion Luke Douglas continues to get a push alongside another pushed commodity in Elliott Jordan who can do no wrong at the moment as they both double teamed on the former tag champs slowing down the pace until Douglas was basically taken out of the match by an interfering Kay Jutler who still has heat with Douglas from his assist to Clint Margera back at the anniversary show costing him the Kamikaze Championship. This left Starz and Tyler to simply control the match which saw Tyler getting the edge as both Tyler and his former partner seemed to be doing battle to outperform each other. A tremendous 450 splash from Tyler on Starz gave Jordan a sneaky advantage has he threw Tyler out of the ring and sneakily took the pin! Tyler and Starz split as a team seems to have given both of these wrestlers and new lease of life. Tyler was great; he really worked hard throughout and got the edge slightly over another impressive Starz showing. The result: yes, exactly how it should have finished, more momentum for the rising Jordan, and no shame for Douglas as this match continued his feud with Jutler.
DAVE MASTIFF defeats GABRIEL KIDD BY DQ
Match of the night for me here, big lads wrestling at its best! This was my first time to actually see Dave Mastiff in the ring and the man is a beast, extremely agile for a man of his size he faced Gabriel Kidd, a man growing into his role as a heel, and let’s be honest, I have noted before his babyface attributes, however he his fitting perfectly into the heel persona and considering he is not a small guy himself, Mastiff looked imposing as both guys went face to face from the off. Mastiff looked for the power moves from the off with Kidd attempting to match him from strength to strength but conceding somewhat by pulling Mastiff out of the ring and inviting him to taste the ringposts! Tinky Winky chants echoed from the crowd for Kidd that he still has to thank Eddie Dennis for from the previous show, but Kidd did not really let them rattle him has he kept up with Mastiff’s attempts to power his way through the match. Closing stretch of the match did see Mastiff finally nail a standing German on Kidd which he followed up with a cannonball, Kidd cleverly rolled out of the ring though to avoid a certain pin fall but Mastiff dragged him back in, only to receive a low blow for his effort and a disqualification for Kidd. Good ending, DQ hurts neither guy and keeps the heat on the Nottingham youngster.
EDDIE DENNIS defeats MARSHALL X
After standing at the bar for what seemed like an eternity! The second half opened with two of the most over guys on the roster. Actually this was more of a nothing match, not to disrespect the talent as the match was very entertaining, however there was no story, no feud, no rising prospect, just two guys having fun, and that’s great. My problem, well not a problem, and this is not a criticism. I just struggle with Marshall X being a face! The best heel in Kamikaze over the years I have been attending their shows, Marshall is no doubt getting his adulation from the fans for all his hard work. If you think about it, Eddie Dennis is also one of the best heels in the country right now if you take in his Progress run! For me this would have been better for Marshall to heel up to Eddie’s well over persona and garner heat, but Marshall is having his run so fair enough. Eddie teased Marshall at times with his head gear coming off several times and even tied it back on for him. Marshall hit his patterned Blockbuster that he does so well but it was Dennis taking this one nailing a buckle bomb and following up with a sidewalk slam to take the match. Entertaining, crowd loved it, but I want my heel Marshall X back!!!!
KAMIKAZE PRO TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT – SEMI FINAL
ANTI FUN POLICE defeats CHEEKY NANDO’S
With a place in the tag team tournament finals at place at Kamikaze Pro’s next event in Coventry, Sean Devine and Visage came to the ring drinking cans of beer and one could be forgiven for thinking that they were not really taking this seriously! Of course this was a big opportunity for the pairing and I guess a way of annoying Chief Deputy Dunne who wanted no part of the charade. His partner however, Los Federales Santos (let’s just call him Santos for this purpose!) did find himself tasting the sweet nectar of one of the UK’s most favourite beverages and suddenly got into the mood to dance with the sexy Senorita, I’m guessing he wasn’t talking about Sean! Dunne slapping the face of his partner in the hope of getting him focused which had the desired effect had the AFP working Devine taking control until a rather irate Visage, working those legs with some great kicks enabled the Cheeky Nando’s team to rally some offence. Miscommunications occur and that spelled the end of the Cheeky ones surge for the tag team gold as Dunne nailed a jaw breaker on Devine with the assist from Santos to pick up the win. Good comedic match with the Anti Fun Police setting up what looks to be a mouth-watering final against former three time tag champions the Hunter Brothers at the upcoming Coventry show.
XIA BROOKSIDE defeats KANJI
Kanji made an impressive debut just last month, albeit being a losing effort. Now she returns to face a well travelled Brookside, returning from a tour of the US and a Mae Young Classic debut it is revealed that she has been signed to a NXT developmental deal. Fair play to the youngster, although the look in my eyes was a bit shocking as I met the gaze of fellow PWJ writer Ciaran who also looked a little surprised! Xia’s performances over the past year can sometimes leave me questioning if she has any ability to succeed in wrestling, although she is young, I have struggled to enjoy her matches. This matched saw me change my opinion (For what it’s worth!) This was really good, from both girls who wrestled the mat, bridged out of submission holds and pin attempts, and enjoyed some aerial arsenal. Kanji uses her legs well and has some great striking offence with some great high kicks. A spine buster from kanji set her up nicely but a missed moonsault enabled Xia to pin her opponent using her legs to win the match. Xia Brookside it appears has persevered and enjoyed her tours with Stardom and her performance here was floorless, I for one am happy to have seen the change and can really see a great future if she performs has well as she did on this night.
KAMIKAZE PRO CHAMPIONSHIP – NO DQ MATCH
CLINT MARGERA(C) defeats KAY JUTLER
So this is the so called Rubber match, an intense rivalry that has involved the Promotions main title finally comes to a head. This has been well done to be fair, former tag team partners fighting over a title? Yes it is possible to make things that simple and still pay it off! Jutler is a man possessed, and for good reason as he awaits the entrance of two time champion Margera who craftily sneaks from behind to gain an advantage on his opponent. Spilling outside (it is no DQ after all!) Jutler manages to find a staple gun from somewhere? Then proceeds to staple a flyer to the head of Margera who finds colour as he becomes a walking advertisement for Kamikaze Pro! Jutler is technically sound and most of his offence comes in the ring, keeping Margera from using the surroundings whenever possible, however, both wrestlers tease some theatrics on the stage which is a little unnerving with Jutler attempting a style’s clash at one point with Margera countering and thankfully nothing serious coming to pass. Luke Douglas is the thorn in Jutler’s side that will not go away as he interrupts the match, returning the interference he was subjected to from Jutler in his earlier match. Douglas’s use of a chair is spotted by Jutler who moves and allows Douglas to nail Margera with the very chair, setting up Jutler for his great Falcon Arrow finisher which has Margera barely kicking out and finds Jutler questioning himself with not being able to finish off his opponent. From nowhere, a masked man in black interjects himself and helps Margera retain his title by assisting putting Jutler through a table. Great main event, especially when I think back with a really good story that takes a twist as General Manager Colin Russell-Ames announces Margera’s next opponent will be Spike Trevit at Kamikaze Pro’s next event!!!
Another great Kamikaze show in a packed out Cadbury Club as this promotion continues to build on its success and continues to put out excellent shows. Thank You Kamikaze Pro.
