If you want to scratch the surface, I recommend you listen, subscribe and enjoy the podcast from my buddies Carl & Gabe over at A Month Of Mondays Podcast.
I was driving in the car today listening to their inaugural podcast and I’m constantly uttering ‘Yes, totally agree’ and ‘Damn right’ and ‘Oh hell yeah’ At one point I actually blurted out ‘Aggghhh get out of my head’
You see, investing in WWE as a fan is a life long commitment and even if you stray away for a while you always end up coming back.
We have so much going through our heads, the nostalgia of previous eras, the passing of the torch from one generation to the next, the current storylines, bookings and match quality. As well as what we want to happen, intuitively knowing what will happen and with an eye always on the future.
It’s crazy and exhausting but it’s fun and interactive and that’s exactly what these guys are doing.
They somehow manage to correlate theirs and a wider audiences thought processes into intelligent and witty commentary.
Gabe is from Colorado and Carl from England which in itself, is a genius partnership, appealing to a wide audience who will tune in to hear this contrast.
Their chemistry is undeniable, the banter and friendship is clear. The thing I like the most is how respectful they are of each other. There’s a lot of ‘what do you think?’ And then they give each other time to answer. There’s no talking over each other, there’s no demeaning the others opinion. They don’t agree with each other on some points but they know the other has a list of educated points for feeling a certain way and they don’t talk each other down to big themselves up.
When they do agree, it’s pure gold. Heart warming, funny and collaborative. At one point Carl said he’d love to see Adam Cole V AJ Styles and Gabe said ‘I just got shivers’ So did I boys!
And the absolute most endearing quality is they don’t take themselves too seriously. Yeah, we all know wrestling is scripted, we know Roman Reigns isn’t allowed to cut a promo without saying ‘The Big Dog’ and we know at times it makes us look like a big kid.
But that’s what makes it so much fun. A Month of Mondays does a great job of breaking down some of the fans psychology but in a fun and light-hearted way.
Just wanted to give them a huge shout out for enabling me write a little about them. Please subscribe to their podcast and you tube channels.
And on a closing note: The Rox Says that if I’m faced with A Month of Mondays, these are the guys I’d want narrating it!
Episode 2 for these guys has dropped today, at the time of writing, I’m 20 minutes in and I’ve laughed out loud twice and check out Carl’s Dusty Rhodes impression!!
